Monster Hunter Wilds has been named the new best-selling video game of 2025 so far in the USA, with its launch sales enough to push it into the top position. Circana data reveals that the game's launch month dollar sales were 40 per cent higher than Monster Hunter World, and double that of Monster Hunter Rise. And while more than half its sales were for the PC version on Steam, it was still the best-selling game of February 2025 across every platform it released on.
Though it achieved second place last month, the sales stats surrounding Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are even more impressive. The sequel's launch month dollar sales were five times higher than what the original achieved back in 2018. Warhorse Studios' first game went on to be a consistent seller, so Deliverance 2 is primed to shift a lot more units in the coming months and years.
Other new releases included Civilization VII recording the third-highest sales in February 2025, PGA Tour 2K25 in fourth, new Xbox release Avowed in seventh, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii taking eighth.
As for any first-party PlayStation representation, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was the USA's 13th best-selling game of the month, while Helldivers 2 and Astro Bot were 17th and 20th respectively.

Really happy to see KCD2 is still selling well.
JCBP
Capcom can buy Ubisoft now.
Not my type of game Monster Hunter
But just downloading Assassin creed shadows, about 106gb on Pro.

Glad to see both KCD2 and Wilds selling well. Also all the “pc gamers don’t buy games” crowd can go f themselves lol.
Well deserved, despite a few issues I have with Wild's difficulty it's an amazing game that I had a lot of fun with.
Got the Platinum yesterday, great game and looking forward to the updates and the MR expansion!
Interesting to see Wilds sell most on PC, in terms of dollars.
Also weird to compare it to Rise, which launched on one platform and Capcom didn't share digital sales data due to it being on the eShop IIRC, rather than World, which did have accessible digital data and launched on two much bigger platforms at time of release (PS4/Xbone in 2017 Vs Switch in 2021).
N.i.c.e. sa got Japan monster hunter fever.word up son
@Fishmasterflex96 Isn’t it XBOX gamers don’t buy games?
Not surprised with MH Wilds at no 1. But it's nice to see Sony's games; Spidey 2, Helldivers 2, and Astro Bot, has long legs.

And thats with PSSR which isn’t as good as the incoming FSR 4, so pro should really be able to shine in the future. I want to see what a Sony 1st party title will be able to achieve with Pro. Should be amazing.
@Haruki_NLI Steam is growing their numbers really fast right now. PC gaming is on a rise like we haven’t seen in a long time if ever. PC is beating console on most game sales the last year or so. If Steam were to launch a nice Steam Deck 2 upgrade and a Steam console i would switch to that and sell my PS and Xbox. It’s a way more gamer focused experience and they hold dev’s accountable in ways consoles would never dare.
@Stevemalkpus it’s everyone don’t buy games but PS gamers. Then they make excuses for why Astro Bot was sitting at 1.5 million and Hell divers sold more on PC. The truth is PC with Steam is starting to flex on console sales. I’m an accountant and as we say even tho it’s cheesy and cliche, numbers don’t lie, people do.
@Haruki_NLI Have to agree, comparing it to Rise at launch is a bit weird (and a bit unfair) since it launched on one platform at the time.
Been a great year so far for games. KC2 is easily a highpoint of the entire Gen and while i have many issues with Wilds its a really good game especially once the dreadful handhold story finally ends.
@HonestHick Can't wait to see how Death Stranding 2 looks on Pro, really hoping Kojima uses the upscaler that Horizon uses on Pro.
@DennisReynolds for that one i will have to just see it in video as i am no Death stranding fan. But i would think it will get some love as Kojima is a master class designer and i don’t think he would waste that much under the hood power.
I will say this to all the people myself included that said for $700 dollars we have to zoom in at 400x to see a difference isn’t a pro model upgrade. Well Assassin’s Creed on PS5 pro looks next gen and the base model looks PS4. It’s that night and day difference from the video that is showing it. Now that is the power you expect from that type of price increase. The Pro just might be starting to cook. I am interested again. Do that to Gears of War and i will happily buy a pro.
@HonestHick DF didn’t seem to think it used PSSR, likely using their own solution which has proven to be good.
@themightyant wow whatever it is it is really eye opening to what the pro can do. I am very impressed. It makes the base PS5 look like a PS4. I mean no one can look at the side by side and say thats not a HUGE upgrade. Now if thats worth $700 dollars or not thats subjective. Money is different to all people. But they keep this up and i am buying a Pro.
@themightyant Ubi have implied PSSR is coming later as they want to use a better version of it. Hope they do because image quality isn't great on performance mode, its not bad mind you its fine enough to warrant 60fps but it could be better and i hope PSSR improves it if and when they add it.
I'm looking forward to Capcom adding the elitist ranks so that the most hardcore players can stand on their pedestals once more and look down on all the "casuals".
@ATaco Why are you such a grump over people wanting to fight harder monsters? Majority of people wanted a challenge and Wilds didn't offer it due to the wounds system and monsters lasting less than 20 minutes.
@Nepp67
Because the "majority of people" is actually a very vocal minority on the internet. Actual people playing the game are struggling to not cart to even non tempered Gravios.
@ATaco Hahaha no when you even have game reviewers stating that they didn't struggle much with the game you know it is too easy. So yes it is absolutely the majority of the player base. The only tempered monster that offers a proper challenge is Gore Magala.
@Nepp67
You must not play with randoms very much because they're constantly getting wrecked against various tempered monsters. It gets so bad that I just start doing them solo because everyone keeps dying and quests keep failing.
I just find it funny that we're still going with this stereotype that "haha game reviewers must all be bad!" Like, is that a qualification to get hired? I should ask pushsquare if there's a box one needs to check that says "Yes, I suck at games."
@HonestHick Totally agree. The price is sticker shock, and I can understand people being annoyed it priced them out (There are plenty of people here and on other forums and Discord that wanted a PS5 Pro all the way... until the price)
But there's no doubting it's a great bit of kit.
@DennisReynolds Perhaps. I'm not a PSSR hater, it can be fantastic, but I think every upscaler works better or worse with different engines and features. From what we've seen so far PSSR doesn't work great with Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI), and Ubisoft have been optimising their upscaler for their engine for years, so using their inhouse solution might be better. Similar to how Guerilla uses their own solution in HFW.
@HonestHick
Will be interesting to see what Ghost 2 delivers on PS5 Pro later this year.
@OldGamer999 yeah for sure. Lots of ray tracing effects would be my guess. That seems to be the edge the Pro has on the base. I am guessing Sony will show Ghost off a lot more come June.
@HonestHick
Just had an hour on assassin on Pro at 60fps.
Looks dam fine and very smooth and good detail in tact when panning around.
@OldGamer999 yeah even on YouTube it looked amazing so i can only imagine what it really looks like. Pro could really start cooking here if Devs put in this much work. Plus when PSSR goes away for FSR 4 things should get even better. While i do wish Sony could have gotten the Pro out for $600 it’s still a nice upgrade over base model.
You love to see it.
